In many fields, there is great uncertainty as to whether a new design will actually do what is desired. New designs often have unexpected problems. A prototype is often used as part of the product design process to allow engineers and designers the ability to explore design alternatives, test theories and confirm performance prior to starting production of a new product. Engineers use their experience to tailor the prototype according to the specific unknowns still present in the intended design. For example, some prototypes are used to confirm and verify consumer interest in a proposed design whereas other prototypes will attempt to verify the performance or suitability of a specific design approach.

In general, an iterative series of prototypes will be designed, constructed and tested as the final design emerges and is prepared for production. With rare exceptions, multiple iterations of prototypes are used to progressively refine the design. A common strategy is to design, test, evaluate and then modify the design based on analysis of the prototype.

In many products it is common to assign the prototype iterations Greek letters. For example, a first iteration prototype may be called an "Alpha" prototype. Often this iteration is not expected to perform as intended and some amount of failures or issues are anticipated. Subsequent prototyping iterations (Beta, Gamma, etc.) will be expected to resolve issues and perform closer to the final production intent.

Hitman: Codename 47 is a game in which you strangle a man as he urinates in a storm grate. And that's only the beginning of the dark, adult subject matter. The game puts you in control of a trained killer who uses stealth and firepower to murder various thugs and criminals. Even if you like the basic premise and action of the game, a number of very serious flaws quickly sap its entertainment value.

The frame story, such as it is, owes a large debt to the movie La Femme Nikita, or its Americanized version, Point of No Return. Your alter ego, the bald and nameless hit man, begins the game restrained to a bed in padded room. You're then greeted by a disembodied, Russian-sounding voice that orders you through a training course tutorial. Here, with melodramatic camp, he'll instruct you on how to use a garrote to strangle a dummy, drone on about the origins and technical specs of the AK-47, and largely annoy you. Oddly, your character never once stops to ask where he is, why he has a bar code on the back of his head, or who this talkative Russian is who's ordering him about. The main hint about the hit man's origins is a vague, uninformed, and potentially insulting introduction in the manual that compares science and religion and hints at Frankenstein-like attempts to outdo nature. The predictable truth about the hit man's origins is eventually revealed as you progress through the game.

The player controls and switches between three different characters (a thief, a knight, and a wizard) to try to complete levels. There is also a cooperative play feature, whereby multiple players can join in at any time to control different characters simultaneously.

Each character has their own health and energy meter. Energy is used for certain weapons and abilities, and is replenished by blue-colored bottles found throughout levels. Health is replenished by collecting heart-shaped containers, which result from destroying certain enemies.

The player also has a single experience rating that is shared among all characters, and is incremented by acquiring green-colored bottles found throughout levels. Every 50 experience points, each character is given one point towards the purchase of upgrades to their abilities.

Treasure chests are also spread throughout levels, each containing a charm that offers the bearing character new or upgraded abilities. The player can transfer these objects between characters, though some will only have an affect on certain characters.

Checkpoints are spread throughout levels, in the form of silver orbs on pedestals. Upon crossing a checkpoint, any deceased characters are brought back to life, and any characters below a certain amount of health and energy are replenished by that amount. The amount of energy and health replenished is dependent upon the difficulty setting chosen by the player.

When a character dies, the player must choose another living character to continue playing the level. If all three characters die, the player is sent back to the last checkpoint crossed, and all three characters are resurrected.

Enemies primarily include walking skeletons and bats, along with boss characters, like giant skeletons and other large creatures. Some skeletons are armed with swords, others with bows and arrows, some spit fire, and some have shields. Skeletons are capable of scaling walls. Other dangers include lava, fireballs, giant sharp pendulums, and various other booby traps.

Police Quest: SWAT 2 (1998) was an isometric view, team-based RTS game in the line of the classic X-Com or Jagged Alliance games, but with a more tactical component. The game takes place in real-time, with the player issuing orders to individual SWAT team members from a three-quarter overhead view of the level. Many of the game's missions were based on real life events, such as the North Hollywood shootout.

The game's story revolves around a conflict between SWAT and an emerging left-wing domestic terrorist group called "the Five Eyes". The game features two separate campaigns, one in which you control SWAT and another in which you take the role of a lieutenant in the Five Eyes terrorist organization.

As a homage, Sonny Bonds, the protagonist of the original Police Quest series, is one of the SWAT officers available for you to send into missions during the SWAT campaign. Sonny is an element leader and has some of the best stats in the game.

With much more positive reviews than the previous two games, it still had several flaws, such as the overly complicated interface and imperfect AI.

Metal Slug Anthology is a video game compilation for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Wii. The Wii version boasts different controller configurations, most taking advantage of the Wii Remote. Controversially, the Classic Controller is not supported. The game also marks the return of SNK Playmore as a third-party developer for a Nintendo console since the NES era.

For the PS2 and Wii versions, the graphics are exactly the same as the original versions released (e.g. arcade, Neo Geo, and the more recent titles published on PS2 and Xbox). The PSP version has a wireless ad hoc mode so that two people can play together and work as a team, however cooperative gameplay is still enabled on the console versions of the game.

Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds is a real-time strategy game built on the Genie engine, the same one used in Age of Empires, and Age of Empires II. The factions in the original game include the Wookiees, Royal Naboo, the Trade Federation, the Empire, the Rebels, and the Gungans. Mainstream online play was considerably damaged after Zone.com, the main site for online play, closed down all CD-ROM games on June 19, 2006 due to financial problems. Personally I find trips through Paris, London and Berlin especially interesting, though driving on country-roads surely has its fans too.

Though gripping and entertaining, 3D Driving-School, first of all, helps prepare for a driving test. It supports keyboard, joystick and wheel. The latter is advisable to really turn a game into a simulator. There are 3 levels of proficiency: Rookie, Beginner (learning without mirrors and looking around), and Normal (actually preparing for the examination). You can choose a vehicle among some cars and motor cycles.

The Options section allows to set keys for driving actions, test your joystick or wheel, tune engine and driving noise, as well as the sound of instructions, etc. Instructions are available in English, French and German.

During the first 10 exercises we train basic driving skills in a small town Gobesdorf. And here we can choose traffic rules of different countries France, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Each exercise has a topic, i.e. specific skills are trained. For example, turning left on traffic lights, mixed priority rules, driving in the night, etc.

Also, for each exercise, there available two driving modes:

1. driving with an instructor providing advice and pointing mistakes. Here you have to follow your instructor's commands
2. free drive when you are on your own and choose a route yourself

3D Driving-School's graphics and sounds produce an excellent impression. To become fully realistic, the atmosphere of driving lacks just one element – nobody except you violates traffic rules. As for the rest, the necessity to simultaneously keep to traffic rules, watch the speed and deal with oncoming traffic and pedestrians develops reaction, grips attention and arouses interest. Country-side roads are picturesque and not that easy to deal with.

The development section gives an evaluation of your present driving skills. I turned out to be a worse driver here than in reality. At least, I hope so…

Pressing the Diploma button, you get a list of possible faults and the amount of penalty points you managed to get at a certain level. If you have passed all exercises at the "normal" level meaning not more then 60 points in total, you are allowed to take a driving test.

Prison Tycoon 4: Supermax (2008)

Did you ever watch the prison movie The Shawshank Redemption and wished you could be the warden running the place? If so, there's a slight chance you might be interested in checking out Prison Tycoon 4: SuperMax. Yep, that's right. It's a tycoon simulator featuring prison as its setting. It's also the fourth installment in a series you've probably never heard of. While SuperMax sounds like a chain of oversized grocery stores, no such thing is involved. Although, I'd much rather be at a grocery store, than play this prison of a game. From playing Prison Tycoon 4, I can see why the warden from The Shawshank Redemption shot himself in the head.

Essentially, you should avoid this game like Sean Connery tries to avoid The Rock. While there's nothing necessarily wrong with a prison game based on the tycoon formula, Prison Tycoon 4's biggest problem is its execution. First of all, this game comes with no manual, not even an insert. Most importantly, there is no in-game tutorial. While this wouldn't really hurt, say, racing games or point-and-click adventures, developers should get locked-up for not including in-game tutorials for strategy management games. It gets exponentially more painful when you couple this with an unintuitive interface.

Throughout your time as the warden, you will be confronted with all of the tasks of running a prison. This means acquiring inmates, managing your economy, assigning people jobs, and yes, you'll sometimes need to issue a beat down. You'll do this from a top-down isometric camera angle. But all of this is severely hindered by a lack of an in-game tutorial. As a result, you'll often know what to do, but not how to do it. It gets even hairier when you do know what to do, but your commands don't work.

One time I wanted to break up a fight, so I tossed some tear gas at the warring prisoners, but nothing really happened. They proceeded to beat the living snot out of each other. You can try to send prisoners to their cells by putting things in lockdown mode, but a lot of them won't retreat to their quarters; and the ones that do come back out after a few seconds. So you'll then want to send a guard to break up the fight, but figuring out how to do that without proper instructions is extremely frustrating.

Since it's pretty much impossible to tell the difference between a guard and a prisoner in the yard, you'll have to open up the submenu. From there you click on the guard tab, select a specific guard, look at the minimap to check the whereabouts of the guard, close the submenu, investigate the most recent known whereabouts of the guard, locate and right mouse click the guy (you can't create a drag box to select anything in this game), move him into the action, right mouse click on a troubled prisoner, and select the beat-him-up icon. By the time you try to initiate all of this, a prisoner might have already died. If this all sounds convoluted it is. The whole game is like this, and it really hurts to not have a proper tutorial.

Trying to be the responsible warden, I tried to break up the action as best as possible by separating different gang members into separate work environments. As it turns out, assigning prisoners different jobs is another painful task. You would think that all you would have to do is to select a prisoner and right click on the area you want him to work at. But that's too simple and intuitive for Prison Tycoon 4. To assign a prisoner a job, you have to open up the submenu, click on the prisoner tab, check the minimap at the top of the screen, select a building you want him to work in, select a position you want him to work at, and finally exit out of the window. After you've done that, the prisoner may still not listen to you. So what you have to do then is open up that submenu again, click on the prisoner tab, select the specific prisoner you wish to command, and edit his daily routine so that he works as much as possible. However, even after that, prisoners would still disobey me. So then I tried sending a guard over to teach him a lesson. Once the prisoner was beaten up, he scampered off to the medical facility. After that, he went off and did his own thing. While you can order your staff around, you can't directly control your prisoners.

Once you successfully get them to work, you'll be disappointed to see that the interface doesn't easily allow you to track your prisoners' work progress. The menus only tell you that your prisoner is scheduled to work, but it doesn't tell you where. Thus, to see if he's doing his job, you've got to once again navigate through the submenu, click on the prisoner, and see if he's following instructions.

But managing people isn't the only part of this game. It wouldn't be a tycoon game if you couldn't construct and destroy various buildings. As the warden, you can build housing, recreational, security, medical, work, and staff buildings; most of which have advisors that give you nearly worthless tips. Once you select a building and plant it to the ground, it will rapidly grow before your eyes. However, without indoor furnishings, they will merely be a worthless shell. Building a dormitory? Prisoners won't be shipped over to your yard until you equip them with beds, and what good is an office building with no offices? To construct within buildings, you must first click on the building to "enter" it; which basically crops off the roof and locks the camera right on top of the structure. Here you can spend money to deploy rooms and other furnishings.

However, whenever you figure something out on your own, another problem arises which pretty much summed up my whole entire Prison Tycoon 4 experience. I can't stress how unintuitive this interface is. The game will throw icons at you and expect you to know what they mean. Certain prisoner's sentences will be listed as "3." Well, three what? Days? Weeks? Years? The saving icon looks like the loading icon, and vice-versa. Everything is simply too unpolished and it all reeks of bargain bin.

I wish I could say that the game's graphics are decent, but unfortunately they also suck. Hey, at least the game is consistent! The visuals look dated, the textures leave something to be desired, colors are drab, and everything is low polygonal. The best thing about this game is the music. While the score is far from good, unlike nearly everything else in this game, the tunes don't make me want to blow my brains out.

These games are the official game adaptations of the movie Spider-Man 2. The home console (PS2, GC, Xbox) versions of this game have the feature of allowing the player to swing around Manhattan, Roosevelt, Ellis, and Liberty Islands. The other versions of the game feature more linear side-scrolling and platform sections with less emphasis on the free play experience of the home console versions. The PC version is aimed towards a much younger audience.[1]

This game's roster of Spider-Man villains includes the Shocker, Rhino, Mysterio, and Doctor Octopus. While street thugs only have handguns, machine guns, crowbars and their fists to protect them, the super-villains and their minions have their various unique powers and weapons that they use to either steal, cause terror or defeat Spider-Man. At the end of the game, it becomes possible to unlock a warehouse in which the player can again fight villains such as Shocker, Rhino, Doctor Octopus, and an additional boss, Calypso, who is not found elsewhere in the game.

Kohan II retains its predecessor's unique gameplay while also making key changes that distinguish it both from the original and from any other real-time strategy games in the intervening years.
Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns was released in 2001, and though it wasn't a blockbuster success, many of those who actually played it loved it. Its particular take on real-time strategy focused on the strategic control of companies of troops and on eliminating much of the tedious micromanagement often associated with the genre. As such, the game proved to be an innovative change of pace from the conventions of real-time strategy. The sequel, Kohan II: Kings of War, retains its predecessor's unique gameplay while also making key changes that distinguish it both from the original and from any other RTS games in the intervening years. And while some of the changes streamline a slickly designed RTS model even further, they don't detract from this great game's own winning formula.

Kohan II's fantasy setting takes place long after the events of the first Kohan game. Naava Daishan is chasing after the remains of the Ceyah faction, who were the aggressors and losers of the first game. Led by Sebak, the Ceyah survivors escape from Naava's grasp and unleash a dark power upon Khaldun. The forces of humanity are on the brink of annihilation, and it's up to Naava and Jonas Teramun, a recently awakened Kohan with no memories, to unite the races of the land. The storyline is a little unoriginal for a fantasy setting, but it is enjoyable nonetheless, thanks to a few well-placed plot twists. The last mission is also quite fun and suitably climactic, although the game's ending is rather dull and disappointing. The single-player campaign spans 25 missions and should take anywhere from 15 hours to twice that long to complete, depending on your strategies and if you complete optional secondary objectives. At any rate, like its predecessor, the campaign in Kohan II is too scripted and suffers from weak artificial intelligence. Also, it'll be an absolute breeze for experienced RTS players at the default difficulty, and even hard difficulty won't be much of a challenge for the first half of the game. The missions are varied, though, and you'll get to play as each of the game's races at various parts in the campaign. You may or may not enjoy this aspect, because even though this lends some variety to the gameplay, you don't really get attached to any particular characters or their causes.
Kohan II features six playable races: human, haroun, drauga, gauri, undead, and shadow. Each race has its own unique units, buildings, and economic factors, such as reliances on particular types of resources over other types. These economic twists turn out to be what most differentiates the races from each other, because the respective military units are basically functional equivalents despite their aesthetic differences. Each race can also belong to a particular faction. There are five factions total (although not every race can choose from all of the factions) and each of these confers certain benefits. For example, the council faction reduces the cost of buildings by 10 percent. These factions allow you to further tailor the game to your play style, although the factions mainly come into play in skirmish or multiplayer matches since you can't choose your faction in the campaign. Overall, though the game's races and factions don't have a ton of personality to them, the various combinations can make for significant and interesting gameplay differences.

Snooker is played with 15 red balls (10 reds for Short Snooker rule) and 6 'colors' and a 'white' cueball. Each red is worth 1 point, yellow 2 points, green-3, brown-4, blue-5, pink-6 and black-7.

While there are reds on the table, the ball you have to shoot at alternates between reds and colors, until there are no reds on the table. When only colors remain, the balls must be potted in ascending numerical value. When there are reds on the table, and a new striker approaches the table, the first ball to shoot at is always red.

Fouls occur when you hit the wrong balls first and result in a 4 point increase in your opponents' socre. Higher foul points are awarded for color balls. Missing balls completely or pocketing the wrong balls also result in foul points. When all balls are pocketed, the player with the highest score wins.
